Remember that there is never a one-size-fits-all kind of scenario, but these are just some of the ways we feel you can find more peace and stay grounded before the overwhelm settles in.
Feel free to tweak them so they work for you.
• Tip 1
Maintain Emotional Well-being and Boundaries.
It's okay to decline an invitation and not feel like you are letting anyone down. Your emotional needs are more important than making an 'appearance' at a gathering which really doesn't serve you or your family.
• Tip 2
Take time out for yourself - even a short break, a 10 minute walk or coffee in solitude can reset your mood and stabilize your nervous system.
• Tip 3
Continue with your Gratitude practice. Reflecting on your accomplishments, time with family, the food you have, the family and friends you are surrounded with, can keep you grounded and present.
• Tip 4
Have fun, and let go of the need to be perfect, just be present with what you have these holidays and give thanks. The more you allow and surrender to it all, the more you can stay grounded.
• Tip 5
Spend time outdoors and in nature, make time for physical movement during these busier times, even a gentle yoga would go wonderful in the outdoors, get the family involved.
• Tip 6
Remember to Breathe. Start and end your day with a few gentle deep breaths to center yourself and stay aligned.
• Tip 7
Keep hydrated and eat mindfully. Moderation and balance is the key so we don't over indulge on eating and drinking. Your body will thank you later.
